The internationally acclaimed State Ballet of Georgia will return to the London Coliseum this summer with a spectacular new production of Swan Lake, running for a limited season from 17 to 26 July 2026.

Led by world-renowned ballerina and Artistic Director Nina Ananiashvili, the company returns to London following its acclaimed 2024 season, bringing a lavish new staging of Tchaikovsky’s timeless masterpiece complete with newly designed sets, costumes and refreshed choreography.

Star Casting for a Timeless Classic

The cast features Nino Samadashvili, Mariam Lomjaria, Anastasia Miliachenko and guest artist Chloe Misseldine of American Ballet Theatre sharing the role of Odette/Odile, alongside Lorenzo Lodi, Filippo Montanari, Daler Zaparov and guest artist Oleg Ligai of the Lithuanian National Ballet as Prince Siegfried.

Stunning New Designs

More than 300 bespoke costumes have been created for the production by acclaimed costume designer Cyrille Gassiline and handcrafted by the company’s costume department. Around 1,500 metres of tulle were used to create the iconic tutus – enough fabric to stretch from the London Coliseum to Trafalgar Square. The production also celebrates one of Georgia’s most treasured theatrical traditions, with hand-painted scenic backdrops created by renowned Georgian artist David Monavardisashvili.

Monavardisashvili has also designed the production’s magnificent Baroque-inspired sets, featuring gilded detailing and grand palace interiors that bring the fairytale world of Swan Lake vividly to life.

Nina Ananiashvili’s Vision

Few dancers have been as closely associated with Swan Lake as Nina Ananiashvili. During her illustrious international career she performed the ballet with the Bolshoi Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and leading companies across Europe, Asia and North America.

Speaking about the new production, Ananiashvili said: “I am thrilled to bring our brand new production of Swan Lake to London following our hugely successful season two years ago. After serving the company since 2004 and touring worldwide, it was time to reinvigorate our production. I have rejuvenated the choreography to infuse fresh vitality into this enduring classic. We are all very excited to return to London for our summer season.”

A Ballet Masterpiece Reimagined

From the opening notes of Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score, audiences are transported into a world of romance, magic and tragedy as Prince Siegfried falls in love with the Swan Queen Odette and battles the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Combining breathtaking classical technique, sumptuous production values and emotional storytelling, this new staging promises to be one of the ballet highlights of the summer.

Based at the Opera and Ballet State Theatre in Tbilisi, the State Ballet of Georgia has a history stretching back 177 years and is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading classical ballet companies. Under Ananiashvili’s artistic leadership, the company has earned international acclaim for its athleticism, artistry and technical excellence.

All performances will be accompanied by the award-winning Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

With just 12 performances scheduled, this limited London season offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience one of ballet’s greatest love stories performed by one of the world’s most celebrated companies.
