This Michelin-starred restaurant on Regent Street opened in 1926, making it the UK’s oldest Indian restaurant.

The decor resembles a maharaja’s palace, with chandeliers, carved teak screens and handwoven carpets. Turbans and sketches of women in saris decorate the walls.

Opt for the tasting menu, or try one of its specialities, such as tandoori tiger prawns, pineapple curry or spicy quail topped with coconut flakes.
