Thames Clippers and Uber have successfully launched their first boat in Uber livery. The service aims to encourage more people to travel around London by boat. With Thames Clippers now serving over 23 piers across the capital, from Putney in the West to Woolwich in the East.

In the wake of Covid-19, tourists and commuters alike are switching to river based transport as ensuring social distancing measures is far easier.

Uber users can buy tickets in advance through the Uber app then use QR technology to board the boats. This groundbreaking enhancement means that users can switch from ride hailing to river riding seamlessly.

Passengers can also buy tickets with an Oyster or contactless card or pay as you go at piers across London.

Safety measures

Staff will wear personal protective equipment while passengers must wear face masks.

To maintain social distancing, capacity will be reduced by blocking off some seats.
