Where to watch Wimbledon 2022 in London

Wimbledon 2022 is back in full force and tennis fever has taken over London again, but where can you watch the matches?

Ever since the All England Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club held its first lawn tennis tournament at Wimbledon in 1877, it has been keeping crowds entertained. The first serve is due at 11am on Monday 27 July and will kickstart a fortnight of world-class sport. If you aren’t one of the lucky ones to win tickets on the ballot, there are still plenty of options. The ticket resale has returned, and you can also buy on-the-day tickets too.

But if you can’t get tickets to Centre Court and don’t want to queue for Murray Mound, big screens and other TV coverage will be available across the capital.

Summer by the River

Summer by the River is the free riverside festival that can be found between London Bridge and Tower Bridge (to 2 Sep). As well as a wealth of free events including film screenings, live music and theatre shows, Wimbledon will also be shown. Head to The Scoop, the open-air amphitheatre next to the old City Hall building, to find the big screen. Screenings 27 Jun-10 Jul | noon-10pm.

 

The Refinery Bankside

For one of the largest outdoor screens in the capital, head down to The Refinery Bankside’s al fresco terrace, just a short walk from Southwark and Waterloo stations. The Piazza, Wimbledon

Where better to catch all the tennis action than in Wimbledon itself? Only 1.3 miles away from Centre Court, the atmosphere is electric. Sink into a deckchair in front of the high-definition screen and catch some rays while watching the tennis pros battle it out. There are no queues and no costs, just pure summer fun for the whole gang. The Piazza, SW19 1QB.

 

The Dog & Fox, Wimbledon

Claiming to have the biggest screen in Wimbledon, The Dog & Fox pub is the perfect place to pitch up. Come rain or shine, every serve will be shown live, while outside will be home to the summer Sipsmith Sipping Terrace, flowing with gin and Pimm’s. Watch the sunset while tucking into a chin-dribbling loaded burger from the new Burger Shack, or book a table in the dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner. St Katharine Docks

As well as the ever-popular film festival, the floating pontoon at St Katharine Docks will also screen Wimbledon matches this summer. Plenty of comfy deckchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis and you can bring your own picnic for a unique Wimbledon experience. St Katharine Docks, E1W 1LA. Kings Cross

Take a seat on the banks of Regents Canal and watch the Centre Court action on Everyman’s big screen, set up across the canal. The steps have been given an apt lawn effect, with oversized pillows for extra comfort. To sweeten the experience even more, go to nearby Ruby Violet for ice cream. From 5pm, the screens will then show two films per night, including Grease, La La Land, Mamma Mia! and The Greatest Showman Sing-a-long. Vinegar Yard, London Bridge

Located right next to London Bridge Station, Vinegar Yard is an eclectic outside venue offering drinks, food, a flea market (every weekend) and art. The outdoor screen in The Courtyard will be showing matches throughout The Championships. Cheer on your favourites with cocktails and pizza in hand, under the looming presence of The Shard. Covent Garden

A new pop-up Pimm’s on the Piazza will serve cocktails, soft drinks and light snacks to visitors alongside the screenings. The historic East Piazza will be filled with deckchairs and picnic benches underneath Union Jack bunting, floral decorations and more. Shoppers can buy the capsule collection at Polo Ralph Lauren and dine on Mariage Freres’ limited-edition tennis ball dessert. On the running track net to the Saatchi Gallery, the nail-biting action from the Men’s Semi-Finals and both Men’s and Women’s Singles Finals will be shown. Strawberries & Screen is back with the Partridge’s pop-up bar. On Saturday, the Fine Food Market will be serving something delicious, and complimentary tennis coaches will keep little ones entertained. This year also sees the return of VIP seating. The comfy deckchairs are pre-bookable and available on a first-come, first-served basis for groups of up to six, with a select number available for walk-ins on the day. Find out more. Brown Hart Gardens, Mayfair

Climb up the steps of Brown Hart Gardens to find the raised historical terrace which sits on top of an old electricity substation. A short walk from Bond Street station, it’s a unique place to watch Wimbledon. Enjoy a giant screen viewing, a host of food and drinks offered by Stripes, and a delightful white picket fence area where all the action awaits. In addition to their incredible Amalfi Coast-inspired menu, Stripes will be serving up gelato, strawberries and cream and a delicious Wimbledon Aperitivo cocktail menu in partnership with Lavazza.
