No matter what your age, the allure of steam trains is hard to resist. The sound of the engine’s whistle, the sight of steam drifting past your carriage window, the chugging of the magnificent locomotives that haul the train and the spectators who line the tracks waving as the train goes by, are all a gentle reminder of what a pleasure it is to travel by steam train. With a new regular weekly service from London Victoria station every Tuesday four times a day until 14 September, there will be plenty of opportunities to experience the romance of steam travel with The Steam Dreams Rail Co.

THE JOURNEY

Grab some friends, family or travel solo on one or both of the exciting new trips The Royal Windsor Steam Express and The Sunset Steam Express. Step aboard The Royal Windsor Steam Express at London Victoria and let the train take the strain as you make your way to the historic town of Windsor along the route where kings and queens travelled before you.

Once there, there is so much to do against the backdrop of Windsor Castle. Soak up the atmosphere in the pretty town centre full of traditional shops and pubs, take a steam boat trip or enjoy a stroll down ‘the Long Walk’. Departs every Tuesday at 11.20am and 2.20pm.

Alternatively, settle back into your seats for the evening and enjoy a magical dining experience onboard The Sunset Steam Express and travel through the heart of the Surrey Hills, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Enjoy the stunning vistas as the train is put through her paces before returning to London Victoria. The train departs at 6.15pm and returns at 9.40pm.
