West End LIVE is back this weekend Saturday 17-Sunday 18 June 2023 and we’ve got the low-down on what you can expect
Watch performances of dozens of top West End musicals at the free annual celebration of London theatre in Trafalgar Square. It’s a non-ticketed event to enable as many people as possible to join the fun, so arrive early to get a good viewing spot.
Saturday
Beginning at 11am on Saturday 17 June, 33 shows will take to the stage for short performances to give viewers a taste of what the full-length productions offer. If you’re visiting with children, make sure to arrive early as the day begins with a combination from Disney’s Frozen and The Lion King, followed by Wicked and The Wizard of Oz. Other participating shows include Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, Les Misérables, Hamilton and this month’s cover star, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.There will also be performances from Jersey Boys and Magic Mike Live, before the finale at 4.50pm.
Sunday
Day two kicks off with a reprisal from the cast of Heathers the Musical before 42nd Street, the showbiz fairytale, takes to the stage. If you’re out for the day with Dad for Father’s Day, make sure to stop by for Tarantino Live (12.35pm), We Will Rock You (1.10pm), Back to the Future the Musical (1.15pm) and The Choir of Man (2.10pm). Other highlights include the TV sitcom-inspired Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image the Musical (1.05pm) and Magic Mike Live (2.40pm).
